About

ClamAV for Windows 2.0 is produced by Immunet Corporation and Sourcefire, Inc.. It is designed to provide the ClamAV community with a Windows Anti-Virus (AV) solution incorporating all the standard desktop AV features one would expect from any commercial package. This includes; On Access scanning, On Demand scanning, Quarantine, and Removal. Additionally, it includes an innovative Cloud-Based protection engine, Community based protection, and companion mode protection features.

Detailed Description

ClamAV for Windows utilizes advanced Cloud-based and community-based detection methods. Developed by Immunet, these detection methods leverage the computers of your friends, family and a worldwide global community to harness their collective knowledge for securing your PC. Every time someone in this collective community encounters a threat, everyone else in the community gains protection from that same threat in real time. You no longer have to rely on the isolated security of your current Anti-Virus vendor. You are able to protect your friends and family while being better protected yourself. This is exactly what we designed ClamAV for Windows to do. By providing a fast and light layer of virus detection, and linking everyone in a global community, we harness a security sum that is far greater than its individual parts, we call this Collective Immunity.

With the release of ClamAV for Windows 2.0 we’ve added a significant number of new features to the product and to its protection engines.

  • Scheduled Scanning – The ability to schedule complete system scans, and context menu scanning of individual files.
  • SPERO Engine – New machine learning based protection engine
  • Updating – In product updates and notifications of new and improved versions of ClamAV for Windows.

New ClamAV for Windows Editions

ClamAV for Windows Plus is now available for purchase. This version contains additional features and functionality and helps to pay for maintaining the cloud infrastructure and development costs of ClamAV for Unix and ClamAV for Windows. If you like ClamAV for Unix, ClamAV for Windows, or both, consider upgrading to the Plus versions to support our efforts. Pricing details for upgrading to Plus are available after installing the ClamAV for Windows 2.0 Free version.

  • Detection and Removal – Additional detection for exploits, viruses found on USB keys, and rootkits
  • Offline scanning – Offline scanning modes when not connected to the Internet
  • Mail Database scanning – Scanning of on-disk email databases
